SEATTLE, WA — A campaign rally for presidential candidate Senator Bernard “Bernie” Sanders was abruptly shut down Saturday after a group of Black Lives Matter activists took the stage, seized the microphone, and demanded the event be stopped.
The rally, held at Westlake Park and attended by several thousand supporters, began as scheduled with Sanders preparing to speak on income inequality and campaign finance reform. Moments after he was introduced, two activists pushed past event staff and grabbed the microphone, refusing to let Sanders continue.
