RIVERTON, GA — A routine drive turned dangerous Thursday evening when a woman reportedly grabbed the steering wheel of her boyfriend’s car during an argument over politics, causing a collision.
According to police reports, Jessica Moreno, 27, was riding with her boyfriend, Ethan Clarke, 29, when a dispute arose after Clarke revealed he supported former President Donald Trump. Witnesses say Moreno became increasingly agitated before allegedly seizing control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and strike a parked car.
Clarke, who was driving at the time, sustained minor injuries, while Moreno was unharmed. No other vehicles or pedestrians were reported injured in the incident.
Police arrived on the scene within minutes and began interviewing both parties. Moreno reportedly admitted to grabbing the wheel but claimed it was “a reaction in the heat of the argument.” Clarke confirmed the account but emphasized that the action was deliberate and dangerous.
Moreno was arrested for reckless driving and endangerment, and officers are reviewing the case to determine whether additional charges, such as assault with a vehicle, may apply.
“This is a reminder that disputes in vehicles can quickly escalate into serious safety hazards,” said Officer Mark Reynolds of the Riverton Police Department. “Drivers and passengers alike need to maintain control and composure at all times.”
The incident has sparked a discussion on road safety and conflict resolution, with community members emphasizing the importance of keeping political disagreements out of the driver’s seat.
